Condenser and chiller weights by tonnage

Weight bands for condensing units and air-cooled chillers by tonnage, from manufacturer documentation.

This is the exact table the Crane Cost Estimator runs on. Cite it as: Antero Trail, "Condenser and chiller weights by tonnage", anterotrail.com/tools/reference/condenser-chiller-weights. Primary sources are listed with each value and at the bottom of the page.

Operating weights for the condenser_chiller_set crane scenario (PRP-CALC-1 S8, B-668 follow-on). Two equipment families, each with its own band table: 'condenser_bands' (self-contained air-cooled DX condensing units, matched to a remote indoor air handler) and 'chiller_bands' (air-cooled packaged scroll chillers). All weights text-extracted from cited manufacturer product-data PDFs (pdftotext), never estimated. weight_high_lb is the highest OPERATING weight documented in each band (conservative for crane sizing), mirroring the rtu_weights.json convention: the derivation layer adds a stated rigging allowance on top and does not interpolate within or across bands. A tonnage that falls in a gap between bands (condenser 6-13t is undocumented as of 2026-07-11) returns no match, and the scenario asks the user for a known weight rather than guessing.
